Kent's Christmas party...and Jackson's birf-day party...with a dollop of Kai's pumpkin patch...

The Christmas season begins....Okinawan Style

Traditional Shisa sculpture...that is found rampant in Okinawa...

Shīsā (シーサー) (Okinawan: siisaa) (alternative spelling shishi or shisaa) is a traditional Ryukyuan decoration, often found in pairs, resembling a cross between a lion and a dog, from Okinawa mythology. Many people put a pair of shisa on their rooftops or flanking the gates to their houses. Shisa are wards, believed to protect from various evils. When found in pairs, the shisa on the left traditionally has a closed mouth, and the one on the right an open mouth. [1] The open mouth to ward off evil spirits, and the closed mouth to keep good spirits in.
Originally pairs like these were called "shisa and guardian dogs": the right with its mouth opened is the guardian, the left with its mouth closed is the shisa
[2]. Some people believe that one is male and the other is female, and provide various justifications for which is which; for example, "the female has her mouth shut as she should" or "the male has his mouth shut to hold in all the family's good fortune". (Compare this to the distinction between male and female guardian lions in Chinese culture.)

This "Beauty" was included somehow on our Christmas Picture....wait and see...;-)

(Nic and Scott...send me your addy...we have mis-placed our addy book)

Kent-o-san...was the Master of Ceremony at his School Christmas Party...

He is a part of the Social committee..with a gentle nudge of his wifey-poo...and he actually enjoyed the party!

Kent is looking GQ Christmas...I told him he had to pose...he is so agree-able..makes life easy..or easier...hehehehe

We had our Christmas party at the Kadena O' Club...which is always a happening place...

Can you see his reflection in the window below?!

I decorated...but Kent supervised...a first...he he he...
This table was a "make up a quote" contest...Kent found about 6 silly faculty pictures...and everyone had to make up a funny quote for each picture....so each table got to take a picture and the collection of quotes...and judge which quote won...and that person got to pick a present...
This was a hooooooooot....you know when you get a faculty together...and some drinks...things are a lil' bit more interesting...but all in good fun! ;-)

Here is what the tables were decorated like...

People starting to trickle in....HoHoHo!

Helen Braithwaite...from Panama

Melba Brown...the music teacher....playing pro bono...he he he

Sherri from Panama...this Lady I LOVE...she has known Kai...when he was days old...and Sophia as well...she has always been so sweet to the Grubbs' familia...we always meet each other in the commissary...just by chance.......no joke....and we talk for about 30 minutes....such a refreshing STRONG woman...something I strive to be...;-)

Since I'm a part of the pre-school Board of Directors...I had another party to get to....I know...double-booked....Since I knew Kent was gonna be the Master of Ceremony...and would be focusing on the Christmas party...I jetted over to Mrs. B's house on base..which was less than 2 miles away...and met up with my com padres....I only stayed for about an 1 1/2 hours....but needed to get back to Kent-0-san...;-)

Here is Mrs. "B's" Christmas tree...so nice!

Mrs. B...in the kitchen making me a mixed drink which I LOVED......!
She had 3 Santa's similar to mine....same same but different....he he he...

Amanda schooling Kent on something...he he he...and my Apple-tini...which was way tooooo
tart for me.....but down the hatch none-the-less...

We had fun people watching...and drunk people dancin'...a highlight....;-)

Tom showing Lo..a gal who looked like a"plastic" barbie doll....too much plastic surgery...hmmmm...
We had such a good time...but we had to leave and relieve a sitter...so off we went...and the next day we had Jackson's birf-day party to go to...then off to the house to prep for the second round of Gingerbread house decorating...and I made 3 HUGE pots of chili....YUMMY!
Jackson's birf-day party was so much fun...Em and Jason rented out he USO's movie room and they played the Kung-f00-Panda movie.....and the kids watched the movie and grazed on fruit/veggie's/popcorn...and then time to open presents...grab a star cookie...and we hauled it home....;-)

The seating is cool...just like a theater...this room doesn't cost a cent...the popcorn and soft drinks are free....Kai had is 5th birthday here as well...and they watched the Bee Movie at his shin-dig...
This is such a GREAT deal! ;-)

Mason...Aden...and Kai-boy...

Milo...the new boy addition...growing like a weed!

So we left and went to the commissary...to pick a few last minute things...got gas and water...and off to the house....

And when we got home.....this is what Kai found....
Kai takin' a BEAUTIFUL picture with our million dollar camera...yeah...I sometimes cringe...but he is always soooooo careful...he he he...and I gave him Kudos for this AWESOME picture he captured of his pumpkin patch....;-)

The pumkin is somehow pollenated..

Sophia..posing by the future pumpkin patch....she is gonna be a future coffee drinker....but only hot cocoa in the cup...

Kai found a vine...destroyed...and sad...and Sophia sensing the mood Kai is in...any farmer would be protective...it's broken..it died...

Sophia trying to make Kai feel better...said, "Kai...look...it's curly like me...!"
So sweet of Sophia to look after her brother...concerned and loving like...
My kids...they might fight some...but we definitely know they are protective and love each other...and that makes me a PROUD mother! ;-)
I will blog on my Wednesday night...the 2 groups of Gingerbread decorating.....
We have a busy week...times 10...Kent is singing with a Japanese band this Thursday...Wed. dress rehearsal.....and Kai has basketball two days this week...and I'll be a baking fool for both kids school...so be patient with my bloggin'....he he he....b/c I have bootcamp which I get up at 4:00 in the morning 3 times a week.....so can ya say BUSY....;-)
