Our LuLu *heart*

Date Night with Sophia...our lil' lady! ;o)
Saturday we woke up with a heavy heart...knowing that Friday....Japan (we) had gone through such a tragedy!
Ugh!
Daddy and I got to sleep in a bit...we didn't have to scurry to a game or a practice....we just relaxed...watched the news...and talked with the kids about what happened on Friday afternoon/night....we were glued to the T.V. (snuggled at home) on Friday...we eventually unglued ourselves from the couch and tube and ate dinner at 8:30 p.m....unheard of at our house....our kids are always hungry and wanting to mow down on some grub! But we all were in a solemn mood! We get the kids in bed...and Kent and I continue to absorb what has happened....such a loss of words....
Soooooooooo on Saturday...
we get the kids ready to go to a party at 2:00 pm for one of Kai's good buddy's birthday! (a marine family we just adore!)
We show up and the kids don't even let us park the car and they are already off and running (I'm exaggerating a bit) *wink*
Everything is set up BEAUTIFULLY...the kids are playing...they had rented a jousting bouncy!
The kids LOVED it!
Kent and I were munching and chatting...and we asked Marnie where Randy was....she said that she had a feeling Friday night that he would be called into work...so sure enough Saturday came and...Randy was slated for meetings all day....so he wasn't able to participate in the party...*sigh* duty calls. Ten minutes later...Randy drives up in his dirt motorcycle...and we were so happy that he was able to join the party after all....BUT that was NOT the case...he told Marnie...and those around that he was home to pack ...b/c he needed to be at one of the bases to catch a flight to mainland Japan for rescue and aide....he rode up at 2:30...and he had to report at 4:00 for his mission.
What a whirlwind!
Kent and I saw firsthand the raw emotion of a dad leaving for duty on his son's birthday...I got all choked up when he told both his sons that he would be leaving but will be back...and saw the tears that the birthday boy silently shed....with a HUGE hug from Randy and some humor thrown in...(B/c Randy is a HOOT!)...the kids resumed playing and Randy quickly packed!
And Marnie...a friend....a military wife.....a mom...was a rock...and handled everything with CLASS!
It was such a touching moment....and a life that some don't see....
I'm humbled for many reasons...but this really did touch my heart!
as Saturday continued...and the party went on...we left brother Kai at the party for a sleep over and took our Bella home to rest and get gussied up for date night---- with Sophia only!
We wanted her to feel special....and boy does she make us smile!!
We tried out a new burger place....and those of you who lived here...know if you walk into a restaurant and it serves burgers...they will put a twist on things! *ha*
It was delicious...then we walked to Starbucks.....then off to a Patisserie for dessert!
Sophia's eyes were HUGELY fixed on the gourmet desserts!
It was YUMMY!
We had a fun time...the trio...but of course missed brother...but knew he was having a BLAST with his friends!
What a weekend!
I'm sure this week we will see how things unfold from the
EARTHQUAKE disaster!
With much LOVE from Japan!

Daddy is such a ham! *ha*
Bella LOVES her some daddy!
